The Portrait Session – FAQ

HOW MUCH DOES THE STUDIO SESSION COST?

The Studio Portrait Session is by appointment only and costs €85. This fee covers the shoot time, post processing, color correction and viewing session afterwards. For Portrait Sessions on location there is a fee of €125. With all portrait sessions we provide a free online gallery and DVD slideshow of your images for you to share with family and friends.During this time we will capture numerous different setups, from the children in groups, to the whole family to individual members of the family.

HOW LONG DOES THE STUDIO SESSION LAST?

  • Typically the studio session lasts from 45mins up to 1 hour.
  • For younger children we may only have an opportunity of about 20 minutes. After this time they can get distracted. Generally when shooting families we will shoot the younger children on their own first and then in the family group afterwards.

YOUNGER CHILDREN ?

  • For younger children we recommend that they are well rested and fed. You will know yourself what would be the ideal time to bring them in.
  • It may be helpful to bring along some of their favorite toys to the shoot.
  • We would recommend that parents try not to direct their children during the shoot. It can take some children some time to become comfortable and relaxed in the studio.
  • Children have off days ! For whatever reason should your child not be in form on the day, please feel free to book another session with us at no extra charge.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

  • Keep clothing consistent and simple. Dress everyone in the same style. Don’t mix casual and formal clothing in portraits
  • Avoid striped shirts or strong patterns which may distract from the face. Choose simple tones. The simpler the outfit the better.
  • Try and avoid short sleeves as the shoulders and arms can distract from the face. Long sleeves will draw attention away from your arms and helps bring the focus back to your face.
  • As we may also do full length portraits make sure that clothing is coordinated from head to toe.
  • Wear light on white. Light pastel or white clothing looks best against a light-colored or white portrait background.
  • Wear dark on dark. Dark clothing looks best against darker backgrounds and creates a more formal mood in portraits.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

  • After the shoot we will make an appointment for you to come back to the studios to view the pictures. You will then be able to pick out the pictures you like and decide whether you would like Black & White or Colour and on what type of finished products you would like.
  • We can advise you on the type of product and sizes that might suit you.
  • Depending on the type of finished products you decide on, you finished order should be ready for collection within 2-4 weeks.
